Kara Pinarreta, MS, OTR/L

Kara Pinarreta, MS, OTR/L has been a pediatric occupational therapist since 2019. Kara has experience working with children from birth to age 21 in early intervention, specialized schools, acute inpatient, intensive models, and pediatric outpatient clinic settings. Kara has worked with a wide range of populations and conditions, such as cerebral palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, seizure disorders, sensory processing disorders, ADHD, fine motor delays, visual impairments, genetic syndromes, and developmental disorders.

Kara has specialized training in assistive technology evaluation and implementation, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT), therapeutic handling, Astronaut Training Protocol, Learning Without Tears, sensory integration techniques, and more.

Kara takes pride in being an advocate for children and enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team. A true passion of hers is working with assistive technology to increase a child’s access to their environment and helping all children reach their full potential while still having fun.

Kara is originally from northern New Jersey and relocated to Durham, North Carolina in 2023. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, Nico. She also enjoys hiking, dancing, and traveling.
