Rifton’s Toileting System is practical, versatile, and comfortable. The Toileting System can be used:

  • As a free standing commode or shower chair
  • Over the toilet
  • On the toilet

Free Standing Commode Chair

The frame (one size) accommodates the two sizes of seat and accessories. The small size commode has one seat back height. The large size commode chair offers a high or a low back. (Figures 1 and 2) The Seat slides in at the appropriate height on the frame. (Figures 3 and 4) The seat back has two positions for different seat depths, so the child can be positioned close to the deflector for best function. (Figure 5) There are 3 options for seat back angle: 15 degrees back leaning, 5 degrees back leaning, or 5 degrees front leaning. The forward lean position can facilitate toileting performance. (Figure 6)

Accessories clip easily onto the Toilet Seat, or are removed if not needed. Figure 7 shows the soft deflector, which is removeable for cleaning, and the hip strap and arm rests. Figure 8 shows the abductor and the pan, which is inserted from behind if the abductor is in use. Figure 9 shows the anterior support which is intended for improved posture. It is not an activity tray. Figure 10 shows the footboard, which slides in at a comfortable height for the child. It is not a step. Roll the Blue Wave Toilet Seat into the shower to clean it, or use it as a compact, mobile shower chair. (Figure 11)

Over the Toilet

For use over the toilet, remove the pan, and adjust the height of the seat to just clear the top of the toilet. The footboard (if required) is positioned at the slots that will give the correct feet position. The frame is rolled backward as far as it will go over the toilet. Caster brakes are locked. (Figure 12) The 20 ½” wide frame can easily go through doorways.

On the Toilet

The Rifton Toilet seat is easily and securely placed on the mounting bar that comes with the product. In this way, the Toilet seat can be used on the toilet when needed, and removed when not in use. The seat back and other accessories can be used as needed. (Figure 13) The mounting bar fits on toilets using the same bolts that hold the toilet seat and lid in place. The bar remains there permanently, and does not interfere with normal use of the toilet. The item folds so the toilet seat can be stored out of the way. (Figure 14 and 15.)
