Rifton Rapport Letter

Dear Reader

Active standing is beneficial for bone health. In case you need ready references for parents or teachers, here’s some current research on standing and bone mineral density.

I was privileged to attend the first organizational meeting of the Special Interest Group for school-based therapists at the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections Meeting.

I was impressed: over 50 therapists were there at 7am on a Saturday morning — dedication! More than 200 PT’s have already signed on to this new group. Learn more from Resources on the Pediatric Section website and attend the important conference on April 21 - 22 2007 in Newark, NJ if you can.

For students, good teamwork between therapists, teachers, and classroom staff is invaluable.  Don’t forget to use Rifton’s free posters as a friendly and helpful tool.

Enjoy this issue of Rapport.

Sincerely,

Lori Potts, PT
